Hot water causes injury to Campbell baby

Police and an ambulance were dispatched to a home on 12th street Friday afternoon in response to an injured infant.

According to the report, the infant suffered first and second-degree burns on parts of its body.

The mother told police the infant started screaming when she attempted to put her in the bathtub. She stated to police that she realized the water's temperature was causing the infant pain and immediately took her out. The report states no bathwater was present in the tub when police inspected it.

The child and her mother were taken to Akron Children's Burn Center in Boardman. The child was later transferred to the burn center in Akron and was listed in stable condition around 9:30 p.m. Friday. Police also contacted the Mahoning County Children Services.

No charges have been filed pending an investigation of the case.
