City traffic stop yields cocaine, pills and 3 arrests

YOUNGSTOWN — Police found nine bags of cocaine and several pills during a traffic stop about 7:20 p.m. Friday at Market Street and Florida Avenue on the South Side.

Reports said a car was pulled over because the driver, Leronica Smith, 37, of Cleveland, has an outstanding warrant. A records check found that a passenger, Willie Jones, 35, has several warrants through municipal court and Trumbull County. When he was searched police also found eight pills on him, reports said.

Inside of Smith's purse reports said police found the cocaine in a medicine bottle and she also had three pills and $630 cash. She was arrested on charges of possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs.

Reports said she told police the cocaine belonged to a second passenger, Thomas Roseboro, 28, but Roseboro denied the cocaine was his but he was still arrested on a charge of trafficking in cocaine because the purse with the drugs was between him and Smith, reports said. Roseboro also had $1,376 in cash, reports said.

Jones was arrested on the warrants and also charged with possession of drugs.

All three were taken to the Mahoning County jail.
