Austintown business reports losing $5,000 due to bad checks

AUSTINTOWN — A township business lost more than $5,000 due to bad checks.

Bezac Equipment, 3721 Mahoning Ave., received three checks from a group of three people totaling $5,177.

A store official told police that the first two purchases were Feb. 23 and then a third check the next day, Feb. 24. Then that store employee said he learned of a group of three people that purchased equipment with bad checks in Warren.

One of the three suspects attempted to purchase more equipment and when confronted about the checks, said they would bring a cashier's check.

Two days later she had yet to return and the police report was filed Friday.
