McGuffey Centre plans fundraising dinner event

Associated Neighborhood Centers and McGuffey Centre are planning a revitalization fundraiser in the form of a dinner at 6 p.m. March 27 at the centre, 1649 Jacobs Road.
The speaker for the evening will be Wilford Payne, formerly of Youngstown and now executive director of Primary Health Care Services in Pittsburgh. Entertainment will be performed by comic David Hight, and We Jam Productions will provide music.
Tickets cost $35 each and a reserved table for eight is $280. The deadline to buy tickets is March 13, and no tickets will be sold at the door. To buy tickets call Olla L. Tate at 330-746-0889 or the center at 330-744-4377. For ad information call Wayna Hightower at 330-565-4845.
The McGuffey Centre, a nonprofit organization, will use the funds to re-establish its youth programs and maintain other programs. It has served the community for 75 years. The interim director is the Rev. Willie Peterson.
Board members on the dinner committee are Hightower and Tate, co-chairwomen.
Other board members are the Rev. Gwendolyn Johnson and Ralph Goldston. Committee members are Brenda Averhart, evangelist Doris J. Carter, Brian Phillips and Joy Dixon.
