Mancini to cut ribbon on new smoking pavilion at Mountaineer

CHESTER — Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort will cut the ribbon on its 9,800-square-foot smoking pavilion, the largest outdoor smoking area of its kind in the country, at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Former lightweight boxing champion and Youngstown native Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini will be on hand to help casino officials cut the ribbon, along with state, county, and local elected officials and representatives from the West Virginia lottery.

The pavilion was designed with the input of Hancock County officials, in compliance with the county’s smoking ban that goes into effect July 1. It includes more than 200 slot machines, including brand-new reel and video slot machines, as well as six table games. It has a separate entrance from the casino, as well as two entrances inside the casino. Pavilion guests will have convenient access to parking.
