Girard woman charged with drug offenses
LIBERTY — A Girard woman is set to appear in Girard Municipal Court on Tuesday on drug charges after her arrest in the township Friday evening.
Officers arrested Rachel Thomas, 34, after searching a vehicle parked in the lot of the Lamp Post Lounge on Belmont Avenue. According to a police report, officers approached the vehicle after the business had closed due its "suspicious" nature."
Thomas, the vehicle's passenger, said she worked at the lounge, and was waiting for its owner. Thomas could not produce identification, and officers found a suspected crack pipe, four hypodermic needles, copper filter, and two burnt spoons with residue on them in her purse.
Police took Thomas into custody for possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Officers then transferred custody of Thomas to the Mahoning County jail because there was a warrant for her arrest out of that county.
