Youngstown man arrested in assault of woman on Amtrak

CUMBERLAND, Md.

Police say a Youngstown man was arrested in connection with a domestic assault that occurred aboard an Amtrak train in western Maryland.

Cumberland police say 27-year-old Anthony Carter of Youngstown was arrested Saturday evening as the train was stopped at the station in Cumberland.

Police say they interviewed train conductors and witnesses who reported that a man had bitten and tried to choke a woman.

Officers observed a minor injury to the victim that did not require medical attention.

Police say the woman reported that she was traveling with the man. He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

He was awaiting a bail review on Sunday in the Allagany County Detention Center in Cumberland.
