Jessica Persson has been accepted into the University of Colorado Denver school of medicine’s pediatric residency program. Her three-year training began June 23.

Dr. Persson graduated sixth in her class from Northeast Ohio Medical University in May. At NEOMED, she was awarded the Matthew Allen Lewis Award for Outstanding Patient Care and Mastery of the Science of Medicine as well as the peer-voted Ideal Physician Award.

She is a member of the College of Medicine’s Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

During her time at NEOMED, she served as co-president of the American Medical Student Association, a peer adviser on the Professional Development Advising Team and volunteered in many other leadership roles within the greater and local community.

Dr. Persson graduated summa cum laude from the University of Akron’s accelerated BS/MD program. She attended Liberty High School and is the daughter of Thomas and Wendy Persson. She is the granddaughter of Peter and Bobbi Grinstein, also of Liberty.

Kaila A. Buckley of Liberty recently earned a doctor of medicine degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University.

She graduated with honors from Ursuline High School in 2008 and received a bachelor’s degree in 2010 from Youngstown State University, earning magna cum laude honors.

Dr. Buckley will complete her residency in clinical and anatomical pathology at Ohio State University Medical Center. She is the daughter of Dr. John Buckley and Margaret Buckley, and granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Buckley Sr. and Maxine Arens.

Robert A. Parise of Lowellville has earned a doctor of medicine degree from NEOMED. He has accepted an internship at Northside Medical Center.

Dr. Parise is the son of Robert and Francene Parise. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music performance at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. He is a 2007 graduate of Lowellville High School.

Dr. Parise is the grandson of the late Michael and Jennie Parise and Justine DeLillo and the late Joseph DeLillo.
