Book group’s topic to be ‘Beautiful Ruins’

“Beautiful Ruins” by Jess Walter will be the topic When the Adult Book Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. July 28 in the Quaker Room at the Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St.
The library’s book discussion group is open to the adult public, and this title may be borrowed by stopping at the Adult Circulation Desk at the library. The book discussions take place from 7 to 8 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Butterfly gardener will sign his book
HERMITAGE
Ron Richael of Pottstown, Pa., author of “Attracting Butterflies — a Handbook for Butterfly Gardening,” will give a talk and have a book signing from 1 to 3 p.m. July 11 at Leana’s Books & More in the Shenango Valley Mall, 3341 E. State St.
Richael, an urban butterfly gardener for 22 years, will talk about the top 11 nectar plants that attract butterflies as well as host plants needed for their life cycle.
Richael, formerly of West Middlesex and Lake Township, also will explain how to attract butterflies with fruit.
Anyone who has butterflies, caterpillars or eggs is welcome to take them to the event.
Canfield grad writes new hockey romance
Katie Kenyhercz, a graduate of Canfield High School and Youngstown State University, has written the fourth in a series of hockey romance novels published by Crimson Romance, which will hit shelves Monday.
The fictional team is called the Las Vegas Sinners. She has just begun the final book in the series. The books are available for print on demand from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Kenyhercz received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from YSU and completed a master’s at Seton Hill University.
The author is married to John McGinley of Warren, and they reside in Tacoma, Wash., where he is in the Air Force.
Former Durst attorney to write about case
NEW YORK
The former district attorney from New York who tried to convict millionaire murder suspect Robert Durst is writing a book.
Jeanine Pirro’s “He Killed Them All” will be published Nov. 3, Gallery Books announced last week.
According to Gallery, a Simon & Schuster imprint, the former Westchester County D.A. will prove her case against Durst “beyond a shadow of a doubt.” The book’s title is based on words whispered by Durst during the HBO documentary about him, “The Jinx.”
Sherman Alexie explores new realm
NEW YORK
National Book Award winner Sherman Alexie — already a poet, novelist and short story writer — moves into a new realm with his first picture book set to be released in May 2016.
Illustrated by Caldecott Medal winner Yuyi Morales, “Thunder Boy Jr.,” published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, is about a boy who wants his own name instead of sharing his father’s.
The American Indian author is known for his works looking at the struggles of being American Indian and living on reservations in the U.S.
Alexie’s young-adult novel “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” sold 1.5 million copies and won a National Book Award in 2007.
