Staff report

EAST LIVERPOOL

The 93rd annual camp meeting services at Tri-State Free Methodist Campground, 1027 Anderson Boulevard, will take place at 7 p.m. July 9-19. Services are open to the public.

Pastor Tim Dwyer from Pittsford, N.Y., is this year’s camp evangelist. He is a professor of Christian Scriptures at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y., and is a preaching pastor at Edgewood Free Methodist Church. He is also ordained and has served pastorates in the Church of God. Prior to teaching at Roberts for the last 12 years, he taught at Anderson University for 13 years and for a year at Azusa Pacific University. He and his wife, Paula, have two sons.

During Family Camp 2015, Pastor Dwyer will speak about “New Beginnings” using multiple texts and passages from the Gospel of Luke in the Bible.

The public also is invited to a concert of old-fashioned country, Gospel and blue grass music by the group, Back Porch, at 3 p.m. July 12. Members John Mitchell, Don Mitchell, Wilma Cowdon, Bill Radcliffe and Ernie Lyle perform old camp meeting favorites on the keyboard, guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin and bass.

Campers staying on the grounds, which consist of more than 10 acres, have the option to participate in the second “Christmas in July” light-up night July 15 after the evening service. Those staying in cottages, campers, tents and dorm rooms may decorate.

Parking is available on the grounds. Casual, but respectful, dress is appropriate.

Since its inception, people from many different faiths and backgrounds have attended and are welcome. This event draws individuals and families primarily from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, but people attend from New York, Florida and the New England area.
