Tree planted to honor club member

Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Hubbard Road, was where a Valley Forge American Elm tree was planted May 11 in memory of Larry Whetson, a late member of the Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown.

For many years, Whetson was chairman of the MGCY greenhouse and the Annual Horticultural Show.

The Valley Forge American Elm is the most Dutch elm disease resistant of all American Elms.
