Jason N. Roeback has more than 20 years experience in hospital/health-care leadership

Sharon Regional Health System has named Jason N. Roeback its chief executive officer effective Wednesday.

Roeback, who has been a project CEO with Community Health System-affiliated hospitals, brings more than 20 years of experience in hospital and health care leadership to the Sharon Regional leadership position.

“I have been impressed by the medical staff and employees at Sharon Regional Health System,” said Roeback.

“This group clearly has a strong commitment to the future, and I’m very excited about the opportunity to work with the staff in continuing to provide advanced health care services to the region,” he said.

Roeback has served in president/CEO capacities for profit, nonprofit and academic health care settings, including as president for UPMC Northwest Hospital and senior vice president for UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.

He began his career with the Navy as an officer in the Medical Service Corps.

“Jason is a skilled leader with a proven track record in building strong relationships with physicians, employees and the community,” said Karen Winner Sed, chairwoman of the Sharon Regional Health System board of trustees.

“We are fortunate to have him on our team to lead Sharon Regional Health System for continued success,” Sed said.

Sed also recognized Amy Smith, Sharon Regional’s chief operating officer, for her “dedication and service” in leading the health system as interim CEO for the past nine months.

A native of Erie, Roeback earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and his master’s degree in health administration from Pennsylvania State University.
