Closing arguments underway in Dawson trial

YOUNGSTOWN — Jurors in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court are hearing closing arguments in the case of a man accused of killing his 15-month-old son in December of 2012.

Testimony wrapped up late Thursday afternoon before Judge Shirley Christian in the case of Larry Dawson, 26, of Wesley Avenue.

Dawson faces a charge of murder and child endangerment for the death of his son Rayvon Stewart.

An autopsy revealed the child died from a blow to the back of the head and prosecutors charged Dawson because the child was in his care when he died.

The defense says the injuries came from a fall.

Testimony began Tuesday after a jury was seated Monday.
