Summerfest events planned in Warren

WARREN

The Summerfest Children’s Art Parade, Chalk on the Walk and Summerfest Parade will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday on Courthouse Square in downtown Warren. The event is being sponsored by the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County and the Trumbull Art Gallery.

TAG’s Summerfest Parade, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., will feature costumes, decorations and other items created during two weeks of art classes for children and adults.

After the parade, children and adults can pick up free chalk from the FACT chalk table, choose a sidewalk square and create works of art on the sidewalks throughout the park.

The Summerfest Parade and Chalk on the Walk are a part of FACT’s Noon in the Park series. The Dixieland Band also will perform.

Joanie Abdu night at Scrappers game

Friday is Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center Night at the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

For every box seat purchased for the game using the code “ABDU,” fans will receive a $2 discount on the price of the ticket, which is regularly $10, and the Joanie’s Promise Fund will receive $3.

Joanie’s Promise, a fund of the Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley, eliminates barriers to care and provides access to advanced breast-care services available to residents of the Mahoning and Shenango valleys regardless of ability to pay.

Laying of the Roses ceremony planned

AUSTINTOWN

Chapter 137 of the Mahoning County Korean War Veterans is conducting a Laying of the Roses ceremonial program honoring Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull county veterans, at 1 p.m. Sunday at Austintown Veterans Park on Mahoning Avenue.

Judge Shirley J. Christian of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court will be the featured speaker.

The families of deceased veterans, the general public and all veterans and veterans’ organizations are encouraged to attend.
