Radio club schedules Field Day at park

AUSTINTOWN

The 20/9 Radio Club Inc., a nonprofit amateur radio club in Austintown, received a proclamation from the Mahoning County commissioners on June 22 declaring the week of June 21 through 28 Amateur Radio Week in Mahoning County.

The proclamation came in recognition of the club’s Field Day, an emergency preparedness event to take place from 2 p.m. Saturday to 2 p.m. Sunday at Paul Pogany Pavilion at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.

The group will showcase amateur radio’s emergency capabilities and share information. Certificates will go to any children who get on air and make a contact. A test for all license classes will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday in the pavilion.
