What: Take in the beauty of Fellows Riverside Gardens this summer with a guided walk led by Lynn Zocolo.

Growing Roses

When: Saturday

Time: 10 to 11:30 a.m.

What: Join Ellen Speicher for a tour of the Rose Garden in the gardens to learn how to grow your own beautiful roses. Topics covered will include tips on how to plant, fertilize and manage pest problems. A demonstration on rose pruning also will be given.

Goin’ Mothin’

When: Saturday

Time: 9 to 11 p.m.

What: Moths outnumber butterflies by more than 11 to one and often sport beautiful colors, shapes and patterns! We’ll try to attract these amazing creatures by using black lights. Bring a flashlight and camera.

Where: Ford Nature Center. Limited parking.

BIRD BANDING WITH AL

When: Saturday

Time: 8 a.m. to noon

What: See live, wild songbirds in the hand and learn why bird banding is an important tool for bird and wildlife conservation. Meet Al outside on the east side of the visitors center. Banding sessions are canceled in the event of rain.

Time: 8 a.m.

What: Rise early for a ramble along the Old Tree Trail, Lily Pond and Lake Glacier. Afterward, the Garden Cafe will be open if you wish to purchase coffee and pastries.

Hands-On Gardening

When: Monday

Time: 6 to 8 p.m.

What: Join us on a site visit to ask questions and learn about growing vegetables. You’ll get personal answers and gain new skills through hands-on demonstrations.
