Three new firefighters and a new police officer will be sworn in at a ceremony at 10 a.m. today at the Central Fire Station on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Taking the oath as firefighters will be David Bernat, Scott Barton and Samuel Lucarell, while LaCameron Workman will be sworn in as a new city police officer. Also being promoted at the ceremony is Lt. Leslie Murphy to captain and Capt. Charles Smith to battalion chief. Mayor John A. McNally will administer the oaths.
Missing teen, baby
YOUNGSTOWN
Police are looking for a missing 15-year-old girl and the teen’s baby, barely over a month old.
Lt. Ramon Cox of the department’s Family Investigative Services Unit said Tilia Moore, 15, and her baby, Omari Dukes, who was born June 8, were last seen Monday. Cox said Moore is from Boardman but was staying with her grandmother in the city. Cox said police are concerned because of how young both the mother and child are. Anyone with information can call the department at 330-742-8950.
Broken water pipe
YOUNGSTOWN
A 16-inch water pipe broke on East Federal Street, leaving the U.S. Social Security Administration office without water for much of Tuesday. The break was reported about 5:15 a.m. near the Social Security office at 354 E. Federal. Other nearby water customers briefly had low water pressure, said Eugene J. Leson, the city’s chief water engineer.
