Austintown Lions, Lionesses install officers

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Austintown Lions and Lioness Clubs hosted a joint installation night June 8 at Rachel’s Restaurant in Austintown as King Lion John Susany presided. Vice District Gov.-elect Wayne Christen of the Calcutta Lions Club served as the installing officer. It was also the 38th Charter Night for the Austintown Lions. Susany was installed as president of the Lions, and Lori Stone was installed as president of the Lionesses. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to Harold Wilson and John Facemyer. Presenting the awards was Past District Gov. Bob Booher of the Canal Fulton Lions Club, who is the chairman of the District Lions Clubs International Foundation. The award symbolizes dedicated humanitarian service and is a high honor. Above, Christen, center, presents the gavel to incoming presidents Stone and Susany. Below are Kay and Harold Wilson, Booher, and Bob and Barbara Facemyer. Other Lions officers installed were Bob Melcher, first vice president; Jack Kochansky, second vice president; Harold Wilson, secretary; Larry Jensen, treasurer; Jim Banyots, tail twister; Don Hoelzel, Lion tamer; Bob Whited, membership and public relations past district governor; Facemyer, one-year director; Glenn Ringer, two-year director; and Jensen, Lioness liaison. Other Lioness officers installed were Lou Skerkavich, vice president; Teresa McCallen, secretary; and Jane Grace, treasurer.
