Man faces charges

BOARDMAN

A township man is scheduled to appear in court today after he was arrested Thursday for an incident in which police say he damaged neighbors’ homes and vehicles by shooting at them with a BB gun.

Jeffrey Bachani, 22, of Indianola Road, is charged with vandalism, criminal damaging and obstructing official business.

The charges stem from an incident in which Bachani purportedly stood at a window, shot at and caused damage to properties on Euclid Boulevard, Indianola and Tudor Lane.

Police reportedly found a BB gun inside Bachani’s home. Bachani was released on bond, pending his court appearance.

Re-entering society

WARREN

A public meeting to assist organizations attempting to form a Mahoning Valley prison re-entry task force will be at 5:30 p.m. July 1 at the Warren Municipal Building, 141 South Street SE.

Speakers from Cuyahoga, Wayne and Lorain counties will talk about how their re-entry coalitions are thriving in their communities.

Shot ruled an accident

POLAND

An incident in which a gun went off in a township home with a child inside has been ruled an accident, police officials say.

Police responded to a Youngstown-Poland Road residence Saturday night after a gun went off, according to a police report.

The child was not in the immediate vicinity of the gun, but was inside the house, police officials said.

No charges were filed.

Pretrial hearing

WARREN

One more pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 13 in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court before the July 20 trial date for TaShawn Walker, 27, of Baytown, Texas, charged with aggravated murder in the death of Richard Rollision IV, 24, of Niles.

Walker, is accused of shooting Rollison to death in the parking lot of the Sunco gas station on West Market Street Oct. 26, 2013, one week after Walker’s brother, Taemarr Walker, 24, was killed by a Warren police officer during a confrontation on Risher Road Southwest.

The Rollison shooting took place 20 minutes after TaShawn Walker and his father, Thomas Walker, 44, purportedly confronted people at the J&L Tavern on Highland Avenue Southwest in Warren Township and accused them of celebrating Taemarr Walker’s death.

Swimming lessons

WARREN

The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley, through Warren City Schools, is offering its summer Learn-to-Swim Program at the Warren G. Harding High School natatorium for children 3 through 12. Children need not attend Warren schools to participate. Classes meet Monday through Thursday.

A new session begins Monday and ends July 9. Two additional two-week, eight-class sessions will run through Aug. 6.

Public meeting set

The Lincoln Knolls Community Watch will have a public meeting with the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the East branch library, 430 Early Road.

Culvert replacement

BRISTOL

The Trumbull County Engineers are announcing that Thompson Clark Road in Bristol Township between Hyde Oakfield Road and state Route 88 is closed until further notice for a culvert replacement.

The recommended detour is west on state Route 88, north on state Route 45, and east on Hyde Oakfield Road.

Sobriety checkpoints planned this weekend

CANFIELD

The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be conducting two sobriety checkpoints this weekend. Details will be released later in the week. There also will be saturation patrols throughout Mahoning County this week.

Support in operating the upcoming sobriety checkpoint and saturation patrols will be provided by participating agencies of the Mahoning County OVI Task Force, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Mahoning County Emergency Management Agency.
