Fans, air conditioners available to eligible households

Eligible Trumbull County households may qualify for an air conditioner or fan.

They also may be eligible for a one-time payment on an electric bill up to $250 for regulated utilities and up to $300 for unregulated utilities through the Trumbull Community Action Program’s Summer Crisis Program that operates from July 1 through Aug. 31.

Total household income must be at or below 175 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines based on three or 12 months’ income.

Also, householders must meet one of these criteria: Be 60 and over, be an individual with a documented medical condition, be served by an unregulated utilities and have a disconnect notice.

Income eligible households may qualify for one or a combination of an air conditioner or fan, if no air conditioner or fan was received from TCAP in 2012, 2013 or 2014, and/or a one-time payment on the electric bill up to $250 for regulated utilities and up to $300 for unregulated utilities.

The income limit for a household of one is $5,149 for three months and $20,598 annually; for two, $6,969 for three months and $27,878 annually; for three, $8789 for three months and $35,158 annually. For households of four or more add $1,820 for three months and $7,280 annually for each additional household member.

Appointments are available at TCAP,1230 Palmyra Road SW, Tuesday through Thursday by calling 866-747-1041 beginning Thursday. Callers must receive a confirmation number to secure an appointment.

On Mondays only, walk-in applicants will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis for those 60 and over. Twenty-five applicants will be seen from 8-11 a.m. and another 25 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Three satellite sites are available where applications can be taken from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. An appointment is necessary. The sites are:
