Police wake up driver, discover gun, arrest him


YOUNGSTOWN — Police say a man who was found passed out in his car early Saturday morning was arrested on a weapons charge after officers found a loaded handgun in his car.

Curtis Griffin, 31, of South Truesdale Avenue, was booked into the Mahoning County jail on a charge of improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle after police were called to a home in the 500 block of Tod Lane about 6:55 a.m. Saturday for a report of a man who was passed out in a car.

The gun was found in a glove compartment after police woke Griffin up, reports said.
