Community gathers for Charleston service

YOUNGSTOWN — Reed’s Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1939 Jacobs Road, was the site of a community prayer and memorial service Monday for the victims of the church shooting in Charleston, S.C., last week.

The interfaith gathering was a blend of Scripture, song, reflection and prayers.

The Rev. Gwendolyn Johnson was host pastor for the service coordinated by Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and Mahoning Valley Association of Churches.
