Celebrate Poland needs contestants

When Celebrate Poland takes place Friday and Saturday, a couple of contests will be part of the festivities.

Poland Idol is a singing competition with judges who all have musical backgrounds. There are four age categories: kindergarten through fourth-grade, fifth through eighth, high school and adults.

Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Advance registration is welcome; call 330-651-2999. The registration fee is $20, and everyone is welcome.

New this year is the Poland Pie Bake Off. Howard Hanna of Poland is sponsoring a fruit pie bake off. Between 1 and 3 p.m. take your fresh fruit pie (no custard or cream) to the Howard Hanna tent, behind Poland Idol at the gazebo.
