Monroe-Davis engagement is announced

Mr. and Mrs. James G. Monroe of Girard are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Shanley Ellen Monroe, and Dane Alexander Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Davis of Newton Falls.

A September wedding is planned at St. Rose Church in Girard.

The bride-elect graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University Barrett Honors College with dual bachelor’s degrees in English and political science. She also earned a public policy certificate from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in English from University College London.

She has a private tutoring business, which she founded in 2011, and is employed by Youngstown State University.

Her fianc is an honors graduate of Washington and Lee University, where he received dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science. He also earned a master’s degree with first class honors in European political economy from London School of Economics.

He is a commodities research analyst with Barclays Investment Bank in New York City.
