Salem Community Theater is offering dance classes with instructor Joanna Andrei, who studied at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City.

The program includes instruction in theater choreography and performance skills. Children ages 5 to 18 can take jazz, tap and ballet, with the option of home-school instruction. Adult classes are available at all skill levels. Students 60 years and older may take tap and ballet classes at a discounted rate. Classes are offered during the day, early evening and on the weekend for a monthly rate of $40 or a per- class rate of $12.

The theater also is offering acting classes, designed and taught by theater veteran and vocalist Niki Slaven.

The classes introduce students to improvisation, character development, vocal projection, audition preparation, dance and singing styles. Students are grouped according to age and experience levels. Classes culminate in performances and recitals.
