Man sentenced to prison for rape of 3-year-old girl

WARREN — A man formerly of Burton who was staying with a family in Girard has been sentenced to life in prison for the rape of a girl, age 3, on May 11.

Nickolas A. Gensert, appeared in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court today, pleading guilty to the rape and receiving his sentence from Judge Ronald Rice.

He will be eligible for parole after 15 years in prison.

It is one of the fastest completions of a rape case he’s seen, said Gabe Wildman, assistant county prosecutor, who credited Detective John Norman of the Girard Police Department for handling the case so quickly.
