“Images: Remembrances of the Holocaust – The Eva Schloss Story,SDRq by J.E. Ballantyne Jr., J&B Production Arts Services and the Youngstown Playhouse, auditions at the Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, 7 p.m. Thursday. The show about Holocaust survivor Eva Schloss will be staged in Aug. 2016. The role of Eva Schloss has already been cast. The roles being auditioned are for video segments that will take place during the production. This video will stay with the production through a proposed prolonged tour of the show after the premier production. Roles being auditioned are as follows (although ages are stipulated older, and younger actors also will be considered): Erich (Pappy) Geiringer (Eva’s father), age 37-43; Elfriede (Mutti) Geiringer (Eva’s mother), age 33-37; Young Eva, age 9-11; Heinz Geiringer (Eva’s brother – roughly age 12-14; Teenage Eva – age 13-15; Nazi Officer, age 50-60; Female Kapo (camp enforcer who is also a prisoner), age 50-60. Video is scheduled to be shot during July and August of this year. All those cast would be making only a one-day commitment for each scene they are in. Most average between one and three scenes. “Cats,SDRq directed and choreo-graphed by David Jendre, Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, auditions at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Mandatory callbacks will be scheduled for a later day. Needed are about 20 men and women, age 16 and older. Those attending the auditions will be required to dance as well as prepare a brief vocal selection. An accompanist will be provided. Those auditioning should wear dance attire (form-fitting clothes or sweats) and feel comfortable performing in a leotard. A recent photograph and any conflicts to the rehearsal and/or production schedule also should be brought to the audition. Performances will be on weekends from Sept. 11-20. Celebrate Poland “Poland Idol” singing contest seeks contestants for its June 27 singing contest at the Poland Village Gazebo. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m., and the competition starts at noon. There are four age categories (K-4th grade; 5th-8th grade, high school and adults) with first-, second- and third-place prizes in each category. There is a $20 registration fee.
