Judge declares mistrial in Brown case for third time

YOUNGSTOWN — Judge Maureen Sweeney declared a mistrial in the murder case against Paul Brown in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

The mistrial was declared because defense counsel claimed he had never seen a video prosecutors played Tuesday, after opening statements were made.

A mistrial was also declared in 2012 and in 2013 the charge was dismissed by the judge but later reinstated after an issue over a cell phone.
