Youngstown firefighters battled 2 blazes Monday


YOUNGSTOWN — City firefighters battled two vacant house fires Monday.

A small fire on the living room carpet of a 3317 Neilson Ave. home just before midnight caused $200 in damage. Reports said the back door was unlocked and the front door was easy to force open.

Earlier, at 924 E. Dewey Ave., a fire there caused $10,000 in damage. Reports said there was heavy fire on the first floor when crews arrived.
