Braydich Dental, 45 E. Liberty St., is whitening teeth through June 30 as part of its annual Smiles for Charity drive to benefit the Children’s Rehabilitation Center in Howland.

Participants contribute $100 and receive custom-fitted whitening trays and whitening solution. All materials are donated by Braydich Dental, so 100 percent of the money collected is donated to CRC. Vaccine discussion

SALEM

The Salem Public Library Wellness Wednesday series is offering a discussion, “Adult Vaccinations: Find Out How To Stop the Flu, Shingles, Pneumonia and Pertussis,” presented by Clinical Pharmacist Kevin Fuschetto from 6:30 to 7:30 July 8 at the library, at 821 E. State St.

Funding for YSU

WASHINGTON

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Cleveland, announced that more than $16,000 in new federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services through the Nurse Anesthetist Traineeship program has been awarded to Youngstown State University for nurse anesthetist training.

Nurse anesthetists ensure the proper administration of anesthesia. This traineeship will give more nurses-in-training the opportunity to take on this specialty and care for Ohioans, said Brown.

‘Healthy Eating’

Mercy Health- Youngstown is offering a “Healthy Eating for You: Eating Mindfulness” presentation from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Warren Room at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, 667 Eastland Ave. S.E.

Bariatric session

Sharon Regional Health System is offering a free bariatric surgery informational session at 6 p.m. June 24 at the Hermitage Diagnostic and Imaging Center, 2435 Garden Way, Hermitage.

The sessions include information on obesity and its impact on overall health, a review of surgical weight- loss options including benefits and risks, a look at Body Mass Index, along with other information to assist participants in making an informed decision about surgical weight-loss treatments.

Food allergies

The Youngstown Business Incubator and Downtown Wellness Committee are offering a free lecture on “Eliminating Food Allergies and Intolerances” at 5:30 p.m. June 24 at the Incubator, 241 W. Federal St.

The presentation is by Dr. Dannielle MacDuff, doctor of naturopathy. She will talk about her new book, “Beating Food Allergies,” and what it means to have a food allergy, how it can be reversed, and what foods may help. She also has a new cookbook that helps people learn to eat favorite foods.
