About 80 youngsters attend Camp Invention in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — About 80 first- through sixth-graders are spending part of their summer vacations brainstorming and conceiving ideas, building prototypes and inventing.

They’re participating in Camp Invention at Kirkmere, Kirk Road. Participation is free through sponsors The Burton D. Morgan Foundation, Nordson Corporation Foundation and PNC Charitable Trust.

Activities include taking apart machines, moving and thinking quickly during fast paced, high-energy games, building and competing in freestyle racing carts, and prototyping video game stories.

Breakfast and lunch are served to all students through the week and transportation is provided for city school students.

Another camp is planned at Taft Elementary School next week. To register, call 1-800-968-4332.
