Political cartoon insulted veterans

I am writing to comment on the very offensive political cartoon published in The Vindicator on May 25. As an honorably discharged Vietnam veteran and a member of three veteran organizations, I feel this is a slap in the face of all veterans who served this country and those men and women now serving! What great timing to publish it the very day after a national holiday that honored those who gave all for our way of life.

It was inferred that we had a hand in the way these periods of war were concluded. Our troops did not lose the Vietnam War; it was lost by politicians and Washington. It is high time that people in this country understand you can not fight a war and be politically correct! The concept of war is to make it so uncomfortable on the enemies that they raise their hand and say no more. We train our men and women in our military to do a job and then send them into harm’s way, but we tie their hands. Let them do the job we trained them to do.

Our men and women now serving and our veterans deserve more respect than this. The Vindicator showed very poor taste and judgment in publishing this cartoon.
