I-80 widening

The Ohio Department of Transportation will break ground Tuesday for the Interstate 80 widening project.

ODOT District 4 and local officials are participating in a media event at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cerni Motor Sales Inc., 5751 Cerni Place, to announce the project kickoff.

Canfield meeting

CANFIELD

After Wednesday’s Canfield City Council meeting, the city is hosting a town-hall meeting on the income-tax increase on the Aug. 4 special-election ballot.

Council begins at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at city hall, 104 S. Lisbon St. The town-hall meeting will follow.

Residents will vote on a half-percent income-tax increase. The city initiated its 1 percent income tax in 1972, and that brings in $3 million annually.

Native pollinators

CANFIELD

Attracting native pollinators to your garden is the topic of this month’s “Coffee with the Master Gardener” program from 9:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Ohio State University Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St.

Sara Scudier, bee and pollinator expert, will discuss the best perennials and shrubs for attracting pollinators and what plants to avoid. The fee is $15, including a pollinator book and color handouts. Call 330-533-5538 to register.
