Boardman law enforcement officials investigate arson

BOARDMAN — Township police and fire officials are investigating a fire at a Southern Boulevard apartment complex car port as an arson, according to a police report.

Officials responded to 8270 Southern Boulevard early Friday for the fire, which engulfed five vehicles in the car port.

Multiple witnesses at the scene told police that they smelled gasoline before the fire. One witness also reported that he saw “the flickering of what appeared to be a lighter near the car port outside, at which time the entire car port bay ignited in flames,” according to a police report.

No one was injured. Police did not have any suspects at the time of the incident.
