Brookfield stadium

BROOKFIELD

Informative meetings will take place at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium at Brookfield Local High School to discuss the school’s football stadium.

Schools Superintendent Tim Saxon says he wants to inform the community about problems, steps to address them in the short term and to seek input on what direction the board and administration should take moving forward.

Saxon said he was notified last year that someone had filed a complaint with the Office of Civil Rights that the stadium was not handicap-accessible. The OCR did a site visit and requested that no changes be made until the district heard back from it. The agency asked for information regarding the seating capacity, handicap parking, restrooms and signage.

In April, Saxon received an email from the OCR. It requests changes the district does not have the funds for, he said.

The stadium is more than 60 years old.
