Three students in Youngstown State University’s master’s program in Interdisciplinary Communication took home first-place honors at the Eastern Communication Association Convention in Philadelphia.

Students Jake Kucek, Patrick Bascom and Donald D’Alessio created a research poster titled “Rescue Mission Audit.”

It placed first out of 22 posters presented at the conference.

Posters were judged on application of theory, scope of research and contribution to the field of communication.

Kucek presented the poster at the convention.

The poster, a project derived from a graduate course titled Organizational Communication Research, was a communication audit of the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission that included a mixed methods research approach to analyze the communication flow of the Rescue Mission.
