Human origins is library program

ANDOVER

Andover Public Library will begin its monthlong exhibit “Exploring Human Origins: What Does It Mean to Be Human?”

Andover is one of 19 libraries in the nation and the only library in Ohio to host the exhibit developed by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and the American Library Association.

The exhibit will be Thursday through July 16 at Veterans Memorial Auditorium, 5517 state Route 6, at Pymatuning Valley High School.

“Community Conversation on Evolution” will be at 7 p.m. Thursday with Smithsonian Broader Social Impacts Committee with Drs. Connie Bertka and James B. Miller. There will be a lecture by Smithsonian scientists, Drs. Rick Potts and Briana Pobiner, at 7 p.m. Friday.

Hands-On History open houses begin

YOUNGSTOWN

Hands-On History open houses, beginning this week, will alternate between the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave., and Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, 325 W. Federal St.

A different local history theme with activities will be offered weekly.

Free sessions will be Wednesdays through Aug. 12.

Museum tours will be offered during the open houses at half-price admission.

The first session will be from to 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday on the topic of Native American Exploration at the Tyler History Center.
