Trolley tours offered by historical society
SALEM
During summer and fall, Salem Historical Society will offer Underground Railroad tours on the Quakertown Trolley. Tours will begin at 1:15 p.m. June 28.
The docent, dressed as a Salem Quaker, will take passengers back to 1856.
After hearing stories, the travelers will return to the 21st century with a better understanding of the plight of slaves, the working of the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement that flourished in Salem before the Civil War.
The tour will last about 75 minutes.
The cost is $15 per person, and a minimum of 15 are necessary for the tour.
Call 330-337-6733 to schedule a tour. Your call will be returned.
The tour is subject to cancellation if the minimum is not reached by June 26.
