Organizers of Slide the City in Youngstown are seeking volunteers

YOUNGSTOWN
Organizers of the Slide the City event that will allow people to slide along Market Street are looking for volunteers.
At the June 27 event, more than 1,000 feet of Market Street near the Front Street intersection will be transformed into a giant inflatable water slide. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Rich Center for Autism.
Those who volunteer will receive a free turn on the slide and a T-shirt for their assistance, said Bergen Giordani, the Rich Center’s coordinator of special events.
To volunteer online, go to http://vols.pt/Wm1PdD or visit richcenter.org and click on the volunteer link. Those without Internet access can call Giordani at 330-941-1927.
All volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
This is a great team-building opportunity for church and civic groups and a fun way for high-school students to earn community-service hours, Giordani said.
Participants ride inflatables down a padded vinyl slide. Music, food and local vendors are part of the festivities.
The cost to slide is $35, with that price expiring at the end of the day. The late-registration price is $40 and is good until June 26. Those registering on the day of the event, June 27, will be charged $45.
To register online, go to slidethecity.com/events/youngstown.
