Youngstown police: man smears heroin on backside
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
Police say one of two men they arrested about 8:10 p.m. Thursday smeared a bag of heroin across his buttocks as he was handcuffed in the back of a cruiser.
Lamont Wright, 26, of East Avondale Avenue, was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of tampering with evidence and possession of heroin. Also arrested was Bryant Toney, 23, of Parkcliffe Avenue, on charges of failure to notify law enforcement of a concealed-carry permit and possession of heroin.
Police pulled over a car Wright was driving at Volney Road and Winona Drive because it matched the description of a vehicle that was involved in a recent drug transaction, reports said.
Wright was seen shoving his hands down his pants and was cuffed and placed in a cruiser.
Toney also was questioned, but he failed to tell police he had a CCW permit, reports said.
Toney eventually told police he had a gun and also had a bag of heroin on him. Reports said Wright then told police he had something in his pants but would not say what.
When Wright was taken out of the cruiser, police found heroin all over the back seat. Reports said Wright told officers he had a bag of heroin jammed up his rear, and he pulled a torn plastic bag from the back of his underwear. There was powder covering his backside and pants.
Police also found $1,300 in cash inside the car, reports said.
Police also found a loaded handgun on Toney, reports said. His CCW permit is valid, reports said.
Wright’s bond was set at $30,000 during his arraignment in municipal court, while Toney’s bond was set at $25,000.
