CANFIELD

The shareholders of Farmers National Banc Corp., the holding company for Farmers National Bank of Canfield, and National Bancshares Corp., the holding company for First National Bank of Orrville, have approved the merger between the companies.

All regulatory approvals for the merger have been received, and the merger is expected to be completed by Friday.

GM cuts production at Michigan plant

DETROIT

General Motors said Friday it is cutting production of Chevrolet Sonics and Buick Veranos at an assembly plant about 30 miles northwest of Detroit. It gradually will lay off about 100 workers there, with the layoffs beginning in July and finishing by the end of the year.

Sales of the Sonic through May are down 28.5 percent from the first five months of 2014, and Verano sales have dropped 15.6 percent in the same period.
