VILLA MARIA, PA.

Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center) will offer a weekend retreat, “Art Retreat: Praying and Coiling a Mandala,” June 26-28 with Sister Paulette Kirschensteiner.

Sister Paulette leads retreats incorporating art and prayer. She has degrees in art education and fiber arts, and she has taught art classes from kindergarten through college. She has exhibited her work throughout the country.

Cost is $175, which includes program, meals and lodging. Commuter cost is $120 which includes program with lunch and dinner.

Clergy appointments

YOUNGSTOWN

The Rev. Jeffrey Stealey has been appointed pastor of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Andover and St. Patrick Parish in Kinsman.

Father Stealey, a native of Canton, attended Canton McKinley High School and Kent State University, Stark Branch, before attending the Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners, Wis.

Father Stealey was ordained June 25, 2011, by Bishop Murry in St. Columba Cathedral. After his ordination, Father Stealey was appointed parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Warren, followed by parochial vicar of St. Paul Parish in North Canton.

The Rev. Stephen Wassie has been appointed pastor of St. George Parish in Lisbon, St. Philip Neri Parish in Hanoverton, St. John the Evangelist Parish in Summitville and St. Agatha Mission in West Point.

Father Wassie is a native of Conneaut. He attended Lincoln High School before entering St. Gregory and Mount St. Mary’s of the West Seminaries.

Father Wassie was ordained June 12, 1976, by Bishop James W. Malone in the cathedral. After his ordination, Father Wassie was appointed parochial vicar of the former St. Pius X Parish in Warren (now St. John Paul II Parish), the former St. Aloysius Parish in East Liverpool (currently Holy Trinity Parish), Immaculate Conception Parish in Ravenna, pastor of St. Joseph Calasanctius parish in Jefferson, and St. Andrew Parish in Sheffield. Father Wassie has been in residence at St. Paul Parish in Salem.

The Rev. Edward Stafford has been appointed pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Mantua.

A native of Youngstown, he attended Ursuline High School, Youngstown State University, Kent State University in Kent, St. Francis College in Loretto, Pa., and Washington Theological Union in Washington, D.C.

Father Stafford was ordained in 1999 as a Franciscan priest.

He served in a variety of assignments in West Virginia and Pennsylvania before seeking incardination to the Diocese of Youngstown in 2012. Since his return to the Diocese of Youngstown, he has served as parochial vicar of Christ the Servant Parish in Canton and St. Rose Parish in Girard.
