Thunderstorms late this afternoon causes area power outages, downed trees
WARREN — A strong thunderstorm moved through southern Trumbull County about 5 p.m., leaving trees and wires down and multiple power outages.
The Trumbull County dispatch center, Girard Police, Liberty Fire Department and Eagle Joint Fire Chief Ron Stanish said there were no injuries.
Ohio Edison is responding to outages in Niles, Girard, Hubbard and Hubbard Township in Trumbull County, and Austintown, Sebring and Berlin Center in Mahoning County. There was also a power outage reported in in Farrell, Pa. Campbell and Struthers and part of Youngstown are also without power right now.
In Trumbull County, the dispatch center reported several trees and wires on roads: 5505 Clark Road in Farmington Township; Sodom Hutchings Road between old State Route 82 and Ken Lane in Vienna Township; and on1139 state Route 7, Brookfield Township, a wire only was down across the road.
Another heavy storm is headed toward Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties about 9 p.m.
