Philly schools dismissed early today due to heat

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia’s public schools closed early today due to heat.

Officials say students were dismissed at noon. The National Weather Service predicts a high of 93 degrees in the city.

Pennsylvania environmental officials have also issued an air quality alert for the Philadelphia area, the Lehigh Valley, the Susquehanna Valley and Liberty/Clairton region.

That means air-pollution concentrations may be unhealthy for children, the elderly, or people with asthma and other medical conditions.
