Mill Creek MetroParks board awards two project bids at special meeting

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mill Creek MetroParks Board of Park Commissioners awarded contracts for two park projects.

The board voted at a special meeting Thursday to award an $85,000 contract to Daniel A. Terreri & Sons, Inc. of North Jackson for a stone bridge rehabilitation project.

The park system previously had gone out to bid for the project, which will restore the Orchard Meadow and Rogers bridges over Bear Creek, but the only returned bid was above the bid cap.

The park system is using a Federal Highway Transportation Alternative Program grant, which will cover 80 percent of the project cost. A second round of bid advertisements yielded four offers; the contract went to the lowest bidder.

The board also voted to award a contract for a roof-replacement project at the MetroParks Farm in Canfield. A $159,675 contract goes to Groover Roofing & Siding of Girard, the lowest bidder.

The park system received two other bids for that project, which is set to begin in a few weeks.

In other business, the board approved a renewal of the MetroParks Police Department’s mutual-aid agreement with other area law-enforcement agencies.
