Mahoning grand jury indicts Campbell man on rape charges
YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a Campbell man who police said fled to Baltimore after he was accused of tying up a woman and raping her repeatedly.
Elijah Lashley, 33, of Coitsville Road, was indicted today on five counts of rape, three counts of kidnapping and two counts of felonious assault.
The attack happened June 2, police said. The 30-year-old victim was found with various restraints at a home on Courtland Avenue.
The victim informed police that Lashley allegedly choked her until she was no longer conscious at a different residence. She found herself restrained to a bed. She told police Lashley repeatedly raped here throughout the night and threatened to kill her and burn the house down.
Police said Lashley fled in a minivan to Baltimore, where he was caught by U.S. marshals on June 4.
He has since been taken back to the county and is in the county jail.
