Butler at Trumbull to host exhibition
HOWLAND
Associated Artists of Pittsburgh (AAP), the oldest and largest visual arts group in the U.S., will open its 104th annual exhibition this weekend at the Trumbull Branch of The Butler Institute of American Art, 9350 E. Market St.
A public reception and brunch is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, with an awards ceremony at 2:30.
Dr. Louis A. Zona, director of The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, served as exhibition juror. The exhibition is planned until July 19.
The AAP event is the longest and oldest continuing survey exhibition of regional art in the country. The exhibition features 68 artworks including paintings, sculpture, installation, photography and drawings created by 63 member artists.
The juror selected 14 artist awards. AAP also choose a recipient of the AAP Purchase Award, Connie Cantor.
Concert to benefit children’s carnival
GIRARD
A free concert from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 890 Churchill Road, will feature Rudy and the Professionals, a band specializing in a wide variety of music styles including rock, Caribbean and Bob Marley.
There will be a raffle of gift baskets and gift certificates. Free refreshments will be served. Bring a lawn chair. In case of bad weather, the concert will be in the church. For information, call 330-505-1192.
Raffle proceeds will buy school supplies to be given away at the children’s carnival in August.
Canfield band plans outdoor concerts
CANFIELD
Canfield Community Concert Band, directed by Eric Bable, will present a series of free outdoor summer concerts. Concerts will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Canfield Village Green; at 6 p.m. June 21 at Buhl Farm in Hermitage, Pa.; and at 7 p.m. June 30 at Austintown Park.
The band will play songs from “The Wizard of Oz” and “The Sound of Music.” The program will include contemporary American styles and patriotic themes. The “Armed Forces Salute” will round out the program as the band pays tribute to veterans. Visit canfieldccband.org.
