McDonald grad Tayala takes second in hammer at outdoor nationals
EUGENE, ORE.
Kent State senior Matthias Tayala, a McDonald High graduate, placed second out of 24 competitors in the hammer throw Wednesday at the NCAA outdoor track and field championships.
Tayala, who won the event last season, threw 234 feet, 9 inches to finish behind USC senior Conor McCullough (252-4). Oregon junior Greg Skipper was third (233-9).
Tayala won last year's event with a throw of 241-4 on his final attempt.
