Local auto sales slightly down in May

Local auto sales were slightly down for the month of May.

The Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio reported a 1.4 percent decrease in local auto sales year over year.

Locally, total May sales for new and used vehicles hit 5,914 — down from May 2014’s number of 5,998.

The figures are based off of titles processed at county title departments by the final business day of each month.

Greenwood Chevrolet of Austintown topped local sales in May with 292 new and used sales. Taylor Kia of Boardman came in second for new and used sales with 215, and Sweeney Chevrolet of Boardman came in third with 212 sales.

The top three new vehicles in May were the Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze.
