Youngstown unveils Summer Event Series line-up

YOUNGSTOWN

The city of Youngstown today announced its Summer Event series line-up, which kicks off with Pride Youngstown and the Color Run this weekend.

“This summer’s going to be really exciting for us,” said Michael McGiffin, coordinator for downtown events and citywide special projects, at a news conference this morning.

He highlighted some of the events, which for the month of June includes this weekend’s event, the Simply Slavic festival June 20 and Slide the City on June 27.

“We’re putting an inflatable slide on the Market Street bridge, something we’ve never experienced before,” McGiffin said of Slide the City.

The event series runs through Sept. 20.

The city also announced a partnership with My City Hangouts, a mobile application that allows users to check out events and locations before going.
